Entering Pay
This
is the core of the program, and the part which is most different from
other payroll packages. The main feature of it is that the pay details
are entered on a spreadsheet-like table, where you can see all the pay
details for previous weeks or months. This makes it much easier to be
confident about the figures being entered, as any changes from previous
periods are immediately obvious:
A mini-payslip at the bottom of the screen shows the details of the
current period, which will automatically update as you change the pay /
period / employee etc.. Clicking on the Show Calc button will
display full details of the calculations of tax, NIC, attachments, sick
pay etc
Employees
can have up to 10 hourly rates, and a basic salary in addition to hourly
pay.
There are separate screens for sick and maternity pay, pensions,
attachments, other additions and disposals, etc. etc.. See
"specification" for a full list of all pay elements.
At the touch of a key you can produce a payslip for the current period,
or an employee summary for the whole year, or an employer summary for
the period. You can enter a target net pay, and the system will
calculate the gross pay necessary to produce that net pay. Any week or
month can be locked to prevent inadvertent alteration of the data after
the pay period has been processed

ABOUT PAYROLL MANAGER
Payslips
Payslips
can be printed on plain A4 paper or onto pre-printed stationery.
The Standard payslip is available as either two or three per page, or as
a security self-seal payslip. The three
per
page layout (DL) has the employee name and address which will show
through a DL window envelope.
This payslip can be made to incorporate the employer’s own logo, as
shown.
Notes for each employee can also be included on the payslip.
You
can print payslips individually, or you can use the Automatic Payroll
Run facility which will carry out the desired sequence of actions - for
example print two of copies of each payslip, one copy of the employer
summary, the employer payslip, the cash makeup, and two copies of the
bank
BACS
instruction, and then lock the current period so that the data cannot be
altered inadvertently.
The Payroll Run option can also be set to make the appropriate payroll
entries in your Money Manager data file.

Reports
In
contrast to most other payroll systems, the P14s, P35s, P11Ds etc. have
the same appearance on the screen as the official HMRC forms. They can
be printed on plain A4 paper (for your records), or straight onto the
blank forms which are available free of charge from the HMRC (for
official submissions).
In addition to the standard HMRC forms, Payroll Manager produces a wide
variety of other reports which enable the employer to monitor and
understand all aspects of the payroll.

Online Filing
Payroll Manager has been tested by
the HMRC and is approved for internet
filing. Note that internet filing will become compulsory for all
employers, and incentives will be available to small employers who file
their returns via the internet.
Click here for details of approved software.
Payroll data is checked for validity
before it is sent, and a log of all Internet Filing activity is kept.

ABOUT PAYROLL MANAGER
CIS
Payroll Manager is designed
to handle the new CIS system that comes into effect from April 2007.
It handles online verification of subcontractors, and the online
submission of CIS300 Monthly Returns (for which HMRC accreditation has
been received).
CIS deductions are calculated as appropriate, and payments can take
account of the cost of materials, VAT, CITB Levy, retentions, fees,
insurance charges, subs and holiday funds.
CIS subcontractor payslips are produced, as well as (where necessary)
subcontractor invoices.
CIS deductions are included on the Employer's Payslip (P30), Employer's
Payment Record (P32) and the Employer's End-of-Year Statement (P35).

Updates
Payroll Manager is sold on a
licence basis. You purchase a licence to use the program for a set
period (generally 12 calendar months).
Improvements (often made at the request of users) and legislative
changes are incorporated in the program on a regular basis.
A current licence enables the user to download updates from the internet
as often as required (we recommend every month or two). An program menu
item will make a connection to the Moneysoft website and check to see
whether an update is necessary. If it is, the appropriate files are
downloaded onto your computer.
Users without an internet connection may request an updated CD at any
time, for which there is a charge of £5 charge per disc sent.
